Dear Sacred Heart & St. Mary on the Lake,
We are in the season of Sacraments! Please continue to pray for all those who are receiving various Sacraments in this most holy of seasons. We are in the midst of first Holy Communions for our little ones. Confirmations for our 9th graders will be at Sacred Heart May 8th. (It is hard to believe, but I will be going to a Confirmation Mass for one of my Goddaughters this week as well!)
We will have Ordinations for our new Deacons and Priests on the following dates. These are public Masses that you are welcome to attend. If you have never had the chance, they are beautiful!
Diaconate Ordination: May 17th, 10:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing.
Priesthood Ordination: June 14th, 10:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing.
The weekend of June 28th-29th we will have three of the new priests for Masses of Thanksgiving at Sacred Heart for our patronal Parish feast: Fr. Jack Jobst will celebrate the 4:30pm Mass on Saturday, Fr. Daniel LaCroix will celebrate the 8:00am Mass on Sunday, and Fr. Randy Koenigsknecht will celebrate the 11:00am Mass on Sunday.
Please continue to keep in your prayers those who were baptized and were received into the Church at the Easter Vigil when we celebrated Baptisms, Confirmations, and first Holy Communions. I want to share the commendation the Church has for them as they prepare for their First Communion – a commendation that is good for us to hear ourselves:
On this most sacred night
You have been reborn by water and the Holy Spirit,
And will receive for the first time
The Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
And you who were previously baptized
And are now completing your Christian initiation
Will also partake in this most blessed Sacrament.
May the Body and Blood of Christ the Lord
Help you all to grow deeper in his friendship
And in communion with the entire Church;
May it be your constant food for the journey of life
And a foretaste of the eternal banquet of heaven.
It is a blessing to watch everyone as they receive these graces because they remind us that God is never done pouring His life into us. Hopefully our accompanying them to the Sacraments would help us receive those same Sacraments in a deeper and more intentional way ourselves. Again, with that in mind, please keep all of these different groups in your prayers.
God Bless!
Fr. Todd
