This is a funny liturgical year with how quickly our major feasts are happening. Advent was as short as it could possibly be with Christmas following on a Monday. It made that whole season go extremely fast. Then Lent will be starting on February 14th so that Easter will fall on the last day in March. A roller coaster indeed! Especially this year with having had so many Masses in such a short amount of time due to the way the days fell, I more than ever need to attempt to say thank you to all those who have helped make these Holy Days so rich and beautiful. Fr. Ginu, Deacon John, and our staffs could not do without them.
· A special thanks to our Art & Environment volunteers who beautified our churches during Christmas.
· Thanks to all of our musicians and singers who lifted us up in song during the Advent & Christmas Season: At St. Mary on the Lake under the good direction of Douglas Spangler. At Sacred Heart our whole music team.
· Thanks to all our Food Pantry Volunteers who have been working really hard with the numbers served rising on a monthly basis.
· Thank you to all the families who adopted families through our Giving Tree, and those who helped sort and deliver the gifts.
· Thank you to all who helped put on the annual Christmas Cantata hosted at Sacred Heart.
· To our parishioners who wrote cards to the homebound and made them feel special.
· To our ARS who clean the Church and prepare luncheons for grieving families following funerals for their loved ones.
· To our Faith Formation teams who run a smooth program through the year.
· To the many that of give of your time and talent- it does not go unnoticed.
· To our Knights of Columbus who help run and support a plethora of events and charities.
· Many thanks to all the liturgical ministers, schedulers & sacristans who make our Sunday Mass so special.
I know that anytime an effort is made to say thank you, invariably the attempt doesn’t reach everyone deserving of a thanks. DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF UNBORN CHILDREN
January 22, the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, has been declared a day of prayer and fasting by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This particular date was selected because it marks the anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision legalizing abortion in America.
Jesus, protect and save the unborn.
