Dear Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake,
Construction time! This coming Monday, June 1st, the window replacement project at Sacred Heart School kicks off. Krieghoff will hit the ground running and aims to have it completed by August 14th. Over that two and half month period, I ask for your patience and cooperation with the construction zone. At various times our school parking lot will be more or less available as there will be equipment moving about. We have parking spots like we have pews—I apologize to those who will be losing their favorite parking spot for the summer!
The parish office (Tammy’s office) will eventually shut down as they replace the window in her room. We don’t know yet when that will be but we will let you know where Tammy will be located during the time she is moved out of her regular office. If you leave a voicemail on that parish phone that voicemail is sent to her email so she will be able to receive and return messages for the time period she isn’t physically in her office.
Our one-hundred-year anniversary for Sacred Heart School will be in 2029. It is amazing to think of all the souls that have passed through our doors over those many years. I think of one 6th grader who reflected on her time at Sacred Heart and simply said this: “I didn’t know who God was before I came here.” All the ways our kids grow in true and lasting confidence because it is rooted in knowing first who God is and then who they are in Him. They know they are loved and given a purpose for this life that is uniquely tailored to them. What an honor to be a part of it. I am so grateful for the rich legacy of Sacred Heart that we are able to not only continue but also invest in for many years to come. Thank you for your very generous support that has made this mission possible.
Ordination Mass: This year the ordination Mass will combine the ordination of the transitional deacons and priests. The ordination Mass will be Saturday, June 6th, at 10:30am at St Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing. This year we are blessed to have six ordinations. We know four of them very well. Deacons Josh Bauer and Peter Randolph will be ordained priests. James Bonar and Paul Keenan will be ordained transitional deacons.
Fr. Peter Randolph will be celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving at Sacred Heart on Saturday, June 13th and at St. Mary on the Lake at the 9:30am Mass on June 14th. Fr. Josh Bauer will be celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving at Sacred Heart at 11am on June 28th. There will be a light reception following those Masses to celebrate and receive first blessings.
(Thomas Crowley will be ordained a transitional deacon in Rome this fall.) We are blessed to have a wedding that same day here at Sacred Heart- what a great day of sacraments!
June 4-5th: St. Mary on the Lake Rummage Sale. (Drop off accepted items beginning this weekend.) It is always amazing the number of things that are brought for that sale and we have a great team that runs it.
Sacred Heart Parish Feast Day: We will have ice cream available after all the Masses the weekend of June 13th/14th at Sacred Heart to celebrate our patronal feast day.
God Bless, Fr. Todd
