Wow! 120 students filled the hallways on the 1st Day of School! Every child is shiny, healthy, clean, excited and ready to start the year. It truly is a sight to behold! Morning prayer is a perfect example of what makes Sacred Heart School truly Catholic and truly great. We begin every morning together: in the presence of God, united in His love, completely human, ready to pray for His greatness to fill our time together.
Your children are special. They are special to God and that makes them special to us. Each one of God’s children (adults included) is destined for greatness and deserves to be seen as a true gift to the world, because we are. We are created to be Jesus’ hands and feet on Earth. What a privilege! What a task!
God thinks you are the most beautiful thing that has ever existed! No kidding!! Students and teachers show up to Morning Prayer having all kinds of mornings. Maybe you’re excited, or nervous, or sleepy, or scared, or really chatty, or really quiet. God sees ALL of your-SELF! And He loves ALL of it! He thinks you are So beautiful!
At the beginning of the year, many of us will fill out All About Me worksheets and play Get to Know You games. What is your favorite color, food, subject, sport etc. These are all excellent ways to be seen and celebrated. But in answer to the question “Who am I?” The answer is always “You are loved!”
Teachers at Sacred Heart School teach in a way that fosters each child’s potential through presentation, thought, virtue, service, communication, guided practice, trial and error and so much more. School is the place where children find out where they fit in the world. They will be challenged, for certain, but in that struggle, they will be guided to rely on God.
So we ask the army of saints in heaven to pray for us! We ask for Mary to intercede for us and we ask all of you to pray for the students, families and teachers at Sacred Heart School. Together, we can find protection, love and safety as we grow in faith and knowledge this school year!
God Bless,
Anne Atkin, Principal
