Dear Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake,
Fr. Dan Lannen, a good friend of St. Mary on the Lake, will be covering Masses while he is back in the area, this weekend and the next. It is a blessing to have him back with us.
I am glad to welcome Erin Schwartz as our new Administrative Assistant for St. Mary on the Lake. She has been a long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s and has helped extensively with our faith formation program and other parish events. I know she will bring her love and knowledge of our parish to the front office. She has been working with Suzzanne in this transition time. Suzzanne, thank you again for all you have done for St. Mary on the Lake and know of our prayers for you as you move to Queens. Erin, we are very happy to have you on board!
As of my writing this we have 18 spots open for grades 1-6, and middle school and high school we have unlimited openings still available for Totus Tuus this week. You will be meeting our Totus Tuus missionaries at our weekend Masses and since there are slots still open you are most welcome! A reminder that this week we will have daily Mass at Sacred Heart at 11:15am each day Mon-Friday. We will not have 8am Masses on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. We will still have our evening Holy Hour and Mass at Sacred Heart on Tuesday and our Holy Hour and Mass at St. Mary on the Lake on Thursday morning.
You are most welcome to join us for those Masses at 11:15 with all of our kids attending Totus Tuus. Please keep them and our missionary team in your prayers this week.
This weekend we celebrate the great feast of Corpus Christi, the gift of Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist. Here is a mystery before which we want to open our hearts. Mystery in the sense of something I can know but never know fully. Here are two prayers from the apparitions at Fatima that are less commonly used but are powerful:
My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee! I beg pardon for all those that do not believe, do not adore, do not trust and do not love Thee.
O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary I beg the conversion of poor sinners.
I want to highlight as well a Eucharistic miracle that occurred in India, the homeland of Fr. Paul, back in 2013 and was approved this past May after a decade of investigation by the Church. (This kind of declaration means there is no natural explanation for what happened.) In this miracle the face of Jesus appeared on a host as it was raised after the consecration. You can read the full story in the link below. It is a powerful reminder of His presence with us. Jesus, increase our faith!
God Bless,
Fr. Todd
