Dear Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake,

The end of May/early June we will be welcoming two new seminarians.

Pictured first is James Bonar, who just completed his first year of Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. James will actually be staying with us for a whole year, completing what the seminary calls a Pastoral Year. This will be an ongoing time of discernment for him, as well as more intensive time in parish life and the many ministries he can be a part of. It will be a blessing to have him for an extended time, and I look forward to getting him involved in the different parts of our parish life and school. I have already told him that he will love his time in our two parishes. (Although it is not quite of an essential nature, I can verify that he does enjoy playing cards. He also mentioned that he likes cooking—a talent I plan on encouraging him to cultivate!)

Our second seminarian will be Dominic Schoenle. He is in college seminary at St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul, MN. During his time here he will be helping serve, and working on various projects from helping care for Calvary Cemetery to other things at both parish campuses and the school.

Both of them are from Christ the King Parish in Ann Arbor. It has been a great blessing to have many young men from that parish responding to the Lord’s call. (I look forward to the day when we send a seminarian from one of our Parishes!)

In other seminarian news: My brother Randy will be doing his internship at Holy Family in Adrian. His day off will be Thursday which he plans on spending over here with us. It will be good to have him around as well. Dan Lacroix will be just up the road from us, spending his internship summer at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Jackson.

Thank you for your many prayers for seminarians and the role you have played in their discernment through their time in our parishes.

God Bless,

Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht

MEMORIAL DAY MASS WILL BE AT CALVARY CEMETERY AT 9:00 AM. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR. IF IT RAINS, WE WILL CELEBRATE MASS AT SACRED HEART CHURCH.
